William G. Thompson VIEW PROFILE

William Glenn “Bill” Thompson, the son of Verlin Glenn Thompson and Gladys Elaine Thompson, was born in Oklahoma City on October 3, 1942. He died peacefully on December 18th, 2021, at MD Anderson hospital of therapy related to AML at the age of 79 years-old. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1964 with a BS in Civil Engineering, a MS in Structural Engineering in 1965 from Stanford University and a Degree of Engineer from Stanford University in 1967. He married the love of his life, Susan Kay Hemry, on December 21, 1969. Bill was a city planner and transportation engineer with HTB, Inc. He began his career in Dallas as a project developer for Henry S. Miller. Over the course of his career he also served as a joint venture negotiator, executive real estate recruiter and he also raised equity and drilling capital among his many other achievements. He was a member of Brookhollow Golf Club, the Petroleum Club in Dallas, Valwood Improvement Authority in OKC and Greens Country Club. Bill was the President of the Bachelor's Club in 1969 in Oklahoma City. He was an avid reader, who loved competition and enjoyed playing cards along with competitive tennis and ping-pong. Relationships were important to Bill and he loved teaching his favorite activities to his daughters and grandkids. The most important relationship to Bill was his relationship with God and even in his final days, he was spreading the word of God to those around him, even the hospital staff. He attended First Baptist, PCPC and was a founding member of Family Life Bible in Dallas. Bible studies were an important part of his life and he had a passion for inviting others to join him. Bill also spent eight years in the Bible Study Fellowship. In OKC, he was an active member of Quail Spring Baptist. Surviving in addition to his wife are his five daughters, Cindy Watts and her husband, Jeff Watts, Genie Myers and her husband, Daniel Myers, Lacey Saint Pé and her husband, Eddie Saint Pé, Laura Lee Calce and her husband, Paul Calce, and Holly Thompson; his 11 grandchildren: Alley, Charlie, Will and Tom Watts, Ellory, Haley and Julie Myers, Jacque and Jolie Saint Pé, and Michael and Rose Calce; his sister-in-law, Loyce Wallace and her husband, Dave Wallace; and his two nieces Heather Leigh Trentor and Wendy Shreffler; and by three cousins: Jack Kennibrew, Billy Lynn Rhodes, Shirley Webster Rhodes and Susan Blake. Bill Thompson will be dearly missed because he brought love, energy, warmth and encouraging words to every person he was around. A service of remembrance was held December 28, 2021 at at Quail Springs Baptist Church, 14613 N. May Ave, Oklahoma City. Pallbearers were Jeff Watts, Daniel Myers, Eddie Saint Pe', Paul Calce, Charlie Watts, Will Watts, Tom Watts, Dr. Lynn Myers, Phil Truss, and Stu Reynolds.
