When I graduated from Harding, I attended the Universityof Oklahoma. Loved every minute of my college life. I majored in business and received a business degree. I was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority with Betty Wheeler & Kay Hickman. I was active in many campus activites. I married and divorced right out of college and had a wonderful son Kirk. We kind of grew up together in Oklahoma City. Unfortunately, when Kirk was 24 years old, he met with a tragic accident and we lost him. Worst thing in the whole world to lose a precious child.
I had careers in the oil & gas industry & worked at WKY (Channel 4) for 6 years. While at Channel 4, I worked 2 years as coordinator for Danny Williams' TV Shows. Lee Allan Smithj then hired me away from Danny to work for him a his coordinator for the Stars & Stripes Showws, which were nationally televised shows on NBC each year around the 4th of July. Got to meet lots of movie stars & great athletes. For the past 20 years I have been in the real estate business with Re/Max Preferred Properties in Oklahoma City.
In 1973, I re-married to the greatest man in the world Jim Kirk. Jim is a trial lawyer with his own law firm, Kirk & Chaney in Oklahoma City. He attended Classen Highschool and graduated in 1960 as well. We had a beautiful daughter Jennifer. Jennifer is now married to a fine young man Cory Dunlap. They live in Charleston, South Carolina, where she too is an attorney with the law firm of Parker, Poe, and her husband Cory is in the commercial real estate & land development business. At this writing, I still only have a grand dog Cookie, but hope to have grandchildren soon.
Jim and I lived in Quail Creek in OKC for 27 years, but through my real estate business, I found great lot in a new development where the old "Fred Jones Estate" once stood just West of the OKC Country Club, and we decided to build a new home. We are very happy in our new home & enjoy walking out our front door to the golf course, where I run 5 miles each morning. I also love to play golf, which inspite of still working in real estate, manage to play at least 3 times a week. I play with the 18 Hole Women's Group at the Club & belong to the Executive Women's Golf Asso. which plays at several different golf courses round the OKC area. Jim & I try to play together on Sunday afternoons. In the winter, Jim and I still love to go skiing. Usually we take off for Aspen/Snowmass which is our favorite place to ski.
In addition to working, playing golf, and skiing, I am busy as past president and board member of the Okla. County Bar Auxilliary, which supports many worthy charities such as Infant Crisis Services, Lawyers for children, Legal Aid of Oklahoma, Youth Services of Okla. County & the Christian Heritage Mock Trial Team.
I will always have great memories of Harding; my good friends and all the crazy fun times we had together, going to the Split-T on Friday nights and date night on Saturday night, gathering in the hallways before class to gossip, flirt or whatever, going to the basketball & football games, not to mention the great education we all got without paying a tuition!
I remember the guys in our class always played cards, poker I think, at their different houses on Friday nights. I can remember how a few of us girls would find out which house they were playing cards, drive to that house, park down the street and then sneek up to the window and try to hear what they talked about at these poker games. Thought we might catch them talking about their girl friends! They didn't, they just talked about ''guy stuff". We thought we were really sneaky and that they never did know that we did that!
I look forward to seeing everyone in June. A big thank you to all that have worked so hard to make this a great reunion!!!
