Lawrence Lindsay Gibbs, 67, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, died on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Services were held on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church of Stillwater, OK with Dr. Gordon Edwards officiating.
Lawrence was born October 21, 1942 in Tulsa to Gorham King Gibbs and Helen Lindsay. He grew up in Oklahoma City where he attended Harding School and later attended Oklahoma State University where he received his BA in Journalism. He was married on September 8, 1966 to Peggy Leigh.
Lawrence received the 50 year award from the Oklahoma Press Association. He was a member of the Red Red Rose organization, founder of the Model Rail Road Club in Stillwater, a member of Elks Lodge, a member of the Oklahoma Steam Threshing Associationand was a Boy Scout Leader. Lawrence received the Silver Beaver Award of the Boy Scouts. He had many hobbies which included traveling, riding trains, going to auctions, writing, photography and old tractors.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, his son Lawrence Lindsay Gibbs, Jr. and his Uncle John Hamilton. He is survived by his wife Peggy and his two sons Gregory Gibbs of Disney, Oklahoma and Lindsay Gibbs of Stillwater. Lawrence is also survived by his sister Ann Gibbs of California, aunt Mignon and husband Carl Thomas of Stillwater and two cousins Sam Hamilton of Stillwater, and John Hamilton of Texas.
Lawrence wrote in his final words, “Just know that I loved my family and I’ve gone to be with LLG, Jr.”

Always low key and friendly, I remember talking to him at the reunion.  Look at his accomplishments and remember this fine man.
