Since the last big reunion, I've retired from teaching except for ongoing consulting jobs at my old school. (Can't seem to break away.) I travel as much as possible and also volunteer teaching reading to English language learners.
Thanks to the organizing committee for keeping us all in contact and to Cindy and others for the memories of our drama productions. I feel very lucky to have been one of the performers.
I was trying to think of some memorable academic experiences and came up with these:
-Spending hours and hours in the downtown library with the Shakespeare lexicon, figuring out the meaning of every word and phrase in scenes from Hamlet and As You Like It. This assignment was for one of Miss Locke's speech classes, and it gave me an enduring love of Shakespeare.
-Writing book reports for Miss Miller on Jane Eyre and Vanity Fair. I babbled on and on, including detail after detail. After that, Miss Miller taught me the valuable skill of summarizing!
- Eating a candy bar for lunch and doing homework in an alcove in what I remember as the basement. I had those play rehearsals after school so no homework then.

A wonderful person whom I'll never forget. I see her in a poodle skirt at a reunion some time ago... Brings back smiles.
Grieving him.

John was one of the reasons I looked forward to reunions (cancelled and not cancelled ones). He was a wonderful, capable person, and I'll miss him.

Bet you added the great granddaughter. If so, congrats! We are way behind. Second grandchild coming in April, and that’s probably it. But we’re so glad we’re still able to get down on the floor to play with them! (Getting up from the floor is another story!)
Sad news about someone I knew in elementary school. Our mothers used to take us out for ice cream (Borden's?) after functions (square dances?) at Wilson School. Wish we could have reconnected at a reunion. If you Google Jim's obituary in the Walla Walla newspaper, you'll see a nice painting of him.
