Frances (Fran) Slover Schiff

Where to begin - fifty years is a long time and a lot of ground covered! I attended Baker University in Kansas, then got married in 1963 to a career Air Force Officer and transferred to West Texas State University in Canyon, where I graduated with a degree in Biology, a couple of other majors and minors and teaching certification in Bio. I taught at Capitol Hill Junior High for one year, hated it, and decided I was not cut out for that!! We spent 3 years in Japan, then lots of places across the country after that.

We landed here in Plattsburgh in 1976, came, went, and camb back to stay in 1984. It was hard to stay away from the Adirondack Mountains and Lake Champlain!!

We have three adult children - Jeff, Sara and Emily. They have produced four grandchildren to this point. Most of their growing up I was a stay at home mom, scout leader, etc. Not a bad job!

I began figure skating as an adult, competed for a few years, and am now a figure skating coach. I also work part time as office manager for a medical consulting group. Both leave me plenty of time to ski at Whiteface Mountain 2-3 times a week and canoe on the lake as much in the summer. I also seem to spend a fair amount of time babysitting for my daughter who is a teacher. I still sing in the Methodist church choir and play tone chimes.

So far except for a bout of breast cancer in the 80's, a few broken bones from variouis sports mistakes, I am disgustingly healthy and in pretty decent shape for an old lady. The family keeps trying to slow me down, but so far, no luck there.
